Martial arts are good for your body. You increase your fitness level, your confidence and you learn how to defend your self in case of an attack. Many people think that fighting sports like kickbox and boxing (all martial arts) are a way to learn how to beat up people but the philosophy of the sport is very very diferent. It teaches you not to be aggresive but to know when to attack and it also teaches you how to avoid bar fights with minimum damage. So like I said, martial arts are not bad either for your body or your mind. There is no age barrier for martial arts, so anyone can train it and it helps you to evolve your self phisicly and mentaly. In fact, many fitness gyms are incorporating various boxing strikes into routines (often called boxercise) to help people lose weight. It offers a complete exercise for entire body. So if you are going to train boxing sports, you are going to need boxing pads eventualy.
Because of the general popularity of boxing pads, there are many different brands of boxing pads on the market and it may prove dificult to choose from them, even if you are an experienced fighter. But there are a few things you should keep in mind when you are choosing them.
It is a good idea to know what type of boxing pads are available and what exactly boxing pads are. Boxing pads are essential for boxing for novices or profesionals. First boxing pads were made from dry rice, beans or straw, binded together in a sack. In our time boxing pads are made from a special kind of foam and the durability is very long and boxing pads with good quality can last for many years. Like I said, no matter how experienced in martial arts are you, boxing pads are essential for your training.
We know many types of boxing pads, but the basic types are FOCUS PADS, STRIKE SHIELDS, BODY PADS and FOCUS PADS.
Thai pads are special boxing pads that are used for blocking kicks. They are used in MMA, muay thai and kickboxing.
Focus pads are the most used in training, especially in traditional boxing.
It is a good idea that you do some basic research about boxing pads before you actualy buy them. I recomend focus pads for basic martial use. For kicking, knee strikes and elbow strikes you should buy thai pads. Body pads are specialy made for all leg kicks and offer full protection against kicks. For more experienced trainers, consider getting strike shields.
You can find many web sites which offer boxing pads, my advice is that you check as many as you can and choose carefully. Also, before you buy them try to get as many opinions as possible on forums or your friends. Good luck
